What we know today (checked 12 October 2026)

The fortified Evangelical church in Felmer has no published opening hours, prices or official website, and the sources consulted do not say how to get in. The Renascendis association works on its preservation and revitalisation. It is worth calling the Evangelical parish in the area in advance or asking in the village before your visit.

A 13th-century church

Of the original 13th-century building, the choir with its semicircular apse and the central nave have survived. Around 1500 the church was fortified and the side aisles were removed. The west tower was added in 1795, and the defence floor was removed around 1800. The church is a historic monument (LMI code BV-II-a-B-11697).

The enclosure and the interior

The church is surrounded by a ring wall that originally had three defence towers; two still stand. The school on the south side of the enclosure has been destroyed. Inside, classicist elements such as the pulpit have survived. The organ built in 1780 by J. Prause is now in the church at Făgăraș.
