Current status (checked 12 October 2026)

The fortified church in Homorod is in a restoration and revitalisation project funded through the Centru Region Programme 2021–2027, with an announced duration from November 2024 to July 2029. Access may be limited while the works last. The church has no published visiting hours: you get in with the key, from a local, so call before you go.

A 13th-century Romanesque church

The church was built in Romanesque style in the second half of the 13th century. The Fortified Churches Foundation (Kirchenburgen) notes that the former chancel keeps frescoes with fragments from around 1270 to the late Middle Ages, among the oldest in Transylvania. The same source dates the tower to 1550, in the fortification phase.

How to get in

According to TraseeRomania, you walk around the town hall past the sports ground and ask at the house opposite for the gate to be opened. Another, undated source says the key is kept at the town hall next door. The number published by Brașov Tourism is 0268 286 609. The church belongs to the village's Evangelical community, so keep the place quiet and follow the directions of whoever opens it for you.

Opening hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)

Opening hours and prices are not published for 2026 — check the official source before your visit. The church has no official website of its own.
