Current status (checked 12 October 2026)

The church is an active place of worship of the Orthodox parish of Baciu and has no published visiting hours. It also has no website and no fully published phone number. You can see the exterior and the enclosure; for the interior, the simplest option is to come around the services and behave as you would in a working church.

A church on the highest hill in Săcele

Baciu was one of the villages that today make up the town of Săcele. The church, dedicated to Saint Nicholas, stands on the highest hill in the town, at 56 Alexandru Ioan Cuza Street. The List of Historic Monuments includes it as a monument (code BV-II-m-B-11783), together with the gate and the enclosure wall, and dates the church to 1808–1809 and the gate to 1823. Other sources mention a construction started in 1776.

What you see

The church has a cross-shaped plan and stands in an almost circular yard, which is also the parish cemetery. The main founder was Urs Gâlă, who sold more than 800 lambs to raise the money for the building. His name and those of the other donors appear on a stone plaque above the nave door. An old wooden church once stood next to it; in its place there is now a funeral chapel, and the site of the former altar is marked by a stone cross from 1808.

Opening hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)

Opening hours and prices are not published for 2026 — check the official source or ask the parish. The length of the visit and pushchair access are not stated in the sources consulted.
