A wooden church from 1830
In Fundata, next to the county road DJ730A, stands the village's old wooden church. According to the Brașov County tourism app, it was built in 1830, in the time of the priest Bucur Moșoiu, and is dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God, celebrated on 15 August.
The village around it
Fundata is the commune at the highest part of the Rucăr–Bran corridor, with houses scattered over the ridges and views towards Piatra Craiului, Bucegi and Leaota. The church is a short stop on a day spent in the area, together with the villages of Moieciu or the traditional fair “Nedeia Munților”, which you will find described on the Fundata page of this guide.
What to know beforehand
The sources consulted do not say whether the interior can be seen outside services. The church remains a place of worship: go in decently dressed, keep quiet and ask before taking photos inside. If you find it closed, you can look at it from the outside.
Opening hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)
Visiting hours, prices, the usual length of a visit and pushchair access are not published. Check the official source, the Brașov County tourism app, or ask at the parish before you set off.
How to get there
From MAX International in Râșnov, head towards Bran, then continue on the DN73, the road to Rucăr, which climbs up to Fundata. The church is in Fundata commune, on the DJ730A. On the way you pass through Bran, so the visit combines easily with Bran Castle. The road climbs in hairpin bends, and in winter it is wise to check its condition before you leave. You can see the exact distance and time with the navigation buttons on this page.
