Casa Memorială George Enescu — Vila Luminiș Sinaia

The memorial house is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday; it is closed on Mondays. It is a branch of the George Enescu National Museum. The sources consulted report no temporary closures, but they do not state wheelchair or pushchair access or the usual length of a visit either.

The house Enescu designed for himself

Villa Luminiș was built between 1923 and 1926 in the Cumpătu district of Sinaia, in the Neo-Brâncovenesc style. According to the museum, the house follows a plan drawn by the composer himself, with the help of architect Radu Dudescu, and it was paid for with the money he earned on his first American tour. In 1947 Enescu, who was then living in Paris, donated the villa to the Romanian state.

What you see

Since 1995 the villa has been the George Enescu Memorial Museum, and since 2007 it has been part of the George Enescu National Museum. The building is a historic monument. The visit is indoors, so it is a good choice for a rainy day.

Hours: Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–17:00, last entry at 16:30; closed on Mondays. Prices published on the official website in 2026: 20 lei adults, 10 lei pensioners, 5 lei school pupils; students, adults with a moderate or mild disability and Euro <26 card holders also pay 5 lei, and pre-school children go in free. From MAX International, drive towards Predeal, on the DN73A through Pârâul Rece or via Brașov, then along the DN1 into the Prahova Valley to Sinaia.
