The castle of the “Nabob”
The castle was built between 1901 and 1911, to plans by the architect Grigore Cerchez, in stone and brick, in the Neo-Romanian style. It was commissioned by Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, nicknamed “the Nabob” for his wealth, twice mayor of Bucharest and twice prime minister of Romania.
What you see today
The visit covers the castle, a gallery and the park, and separately you can see the Secret Room and the LEGO Mini-Museum. In recent years the castle has also become known because scenes from the series “Wednesday” were filmed here. As it is largely an indoor visit, it is a good option for a rainy day.
