Castrul Roman Cumidava

History

The remains of a Roman fortification raised to defend the northern frontier of Roman Dacia, on the territory of Râșnov. The name Cumidava derives from an ancient Dacian settlement in the area.

The site attests to the Roman presence in Țara Bârsei and adds a rich ancient layer to the history of Râșnov, beyond the medieval fortress.
