A monastic site from the 18th century

The nunnery in Predeal is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. The site was founded as a hermitage in 1774, with a small wooden church; some tourist sources give the year 1744. The hermitage was burned in 1788 and rebuilt, and in 1819 a stone church was raised. A larger church followed between 1835 and 1844. In the communist period the monastery was dissolved and served as a parish church; monastic life resumed in October 1993, with a group of nuns from Râmeț Monastery.

What you see today

The ensemble is a historic monument. The old church has mural paintings faded by time, and the place is quiet, suited to a few minutes of reflection. The visit is partly indoors, so it also works on a rainy day. It is an active place of worship, so come in modest dress and keep quiet.
