The museum of a mountain village

Șirnea, a village in the commune of Fundata, is presented as Romania's first tourist village. After the administrative reorganisation of 1968, Șirnea became a village again and the town hall moved to Fundata. In the former town hall building, Nicolae Frunteș, a former teacher in the village, gathered the most precious things the villagers had. The sources disagree on the founding year: one gives 1965. His son, Radu Frunteș, carried on and enriched the museum.

What you find in the collection

The "Nicolae Frunteș" collection numbers more than 700 cultural items, inventoried and conserved through a cultural project in 2017. That year, the museum bore the name Ethnographic, Olympic and Contemporary Art Museum "Nicolae Frunteș". As an indoor museum, it is a good option for a rainy day.
