In short: what we know for sure
The Bran Village Museum (Muzeul Satului Brănean) is the open-air ethnographic section of the Bran National Museum, at the foot of Bran Castle, to the east. The land the museum stands on was disputed in court: in 2020, the press reported that the institution had lost part of the land. For 2026 we found no official source confirming the section's current status, so check the museum's website before you set off.
What you'll find
The museum gathers, in the open air, monuments of traditional architecture from the Bran area: farmsteads and peasant houses, alongside woodworking and wool-processing workshops. In 2020, the museum's management spoke of 18 monuments, some from the 18th century. The visit is outdoors, so it is not a good choice on a rainy day.
Opening hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)
The official website of the Bran National Museum shows: from 1 October to 30 April, Tuesday–Sunday, 09:00–16:00 (last entry); from 1 May to 30 September, Tuesday–Sunday, 09:00–18:00 (last entry); closed on Mondays. The ticket price is not confirmed: a 2026 press source mentions a 4-lei ticket, while older sources mentioned free entry. Check the official source.
Combine it with
The museum is right next to Bran Castle, so it fits naturally into a day in Bran. The “Queen Marie” history section of the Bran National Museum has been housed since June 2018 in the building at 14 Aurel Stoian Street.
