First, the real situation
Peștera Liliecilor (the Bats' Cave) is not a cave developed for visitors. It has no published hours, tickets, official website or phone number. The tourist source that lists it advises against entering the cave: bats live here, and the ground is muddy and covered in guano. That is why this page presents it as a place to see from outside, at the end of a walk through the village of Peștera.
Where it is
The cave is in the village of Peștera, Moieciu commune, Brașov County, about 5 km from Moieciu, on the eastern slope of Dealul Bisericii. Archaeological reports published by cIMeC place it in the Bran–Dragoslavele karst area, carved into the Jurassic limestone of Dealul Bisericii, north-east of the village.
What is known about it
The cave was first investigated in 1957–1958 by a team led by C.S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor, and archaeological excavations took place here again in 2010. For visitors, this means a place with a scientific history, not a route with walkways and lights.
Hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)
There are no official hours or prices; check the official source (the Brașov Tourism app). The Unde Mergem listing of 6 April 2026 shows it as open daily, but this is not officially confirmed. The length of a visit, suitability for small children and pushchair access are not published. Access involves a path that can be muddy, so you need hiking shoes, especially after rain.
How to get there
From Râșnov, take the DN73 towards Bran, then head towards Moieciu and the village of Peștera. From the village, continue on foot along the path towards Dealul Bisericii. Use the navigation buttons of this page for the drive, and ask locals about the path.
