Descents of over four kilometres on the shoulder of Postăvarul
The ski area in Poiana Brașov is the most popular in Romania and stretches across the slopes of the Postăvarul Massif, between the foot of the resort, at around 1,020 metres altitude, and the ridge area near the Postăvarul peak, at approximately 1,799 metres. This elevation difference of over 700 metres makes possible long, continuous routes, among them descents that exceed four kilometres, something rare in our mountains.
Seven runs for all levels
The layout comprises seven main runs, of varied difficulty, marked according to the colour code: blue for the easy ones, red for the medium ones and black for the advanced ones. Drumul Roșu is the long, accessible route, ideal for beginners and for relaxed outings on skis. Sulinar offers a medium-difficulty descent, while Lupului and Subteleferic are the demanding, steep runs, sought after by experienced skiers. The short runs Ruia, Kanzel and Bradul complete the offer, the last being suitable for those taking their first steps on skis.
Cable cars, gondola and connections between runs
Access to the heights is via a network of around ten cable transport installations, which include cable cars, a modern gondola, chairlifts and ski tows. They carry skiers from the resort up to the upper part of the area and allow easy passage from one run to another, so that a whole day on the mountain can unfold without walking. The cable car to Postăvarul also remains one of the finest experiences for tourists who go up just for the view.
Within easy reach from the Râșnov–Bran–Brașov area
Poiana Brașov's location, in the immediate vicinity of Brașov, makes it easy to reach on a trip starting from Râșnov, where MAX International is located. It is a convenient day trip in the middle of the winter season, but also a starting point for hikes on Postăvarul during the rest of the year.
Good to know before heading up
The season, the operation of the installations and the snow conditions vary from year to year and from one day to the next. Check the schedule and prices on the official source before your visit, as well as which runs are open, so you can plan your day on the mountain correctly.
