When it is worth it (checked 12 October 2026)
The Dumbrava Vadului Daffodil Meadow is visited for the flowering: the daffodils appear from the beginning of May and last about two to three weeks. Outside this window, the meadow is an ordinary grassland. No opening hours or ticketed management are published, and the date of the festival has not been announced for 2026.
A reserve of wild daffodils
The daffodil meadows of Dumbrava Vadului are a nature reserve and a Natura 2000 site (ROSCI0205), with rules and a management plan approved by the Ministry of the Environment. They lie near the village of Vad, in the commune of Șercaia, in the Făgăraș Depression. A study from 2000 gives the area as 394.9 hectares; the press speaks of about 400.
How to behave in the reserve
The daffodils must not be picked or trampled: walk only on the existing paths. The ground can be marshy and muddy, so bring footwear that can handle water, and check yourself for ticks after the walk. The visit takes place entirely outdoors.
Opening hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)
