A small reserve above Brașov
The Stejerișul Mare Reserve, also called Colții Corbului Mare, is a protected natural area of 16.30 hectares on the Stejerișul Mare ridge, on the south-western side of Brașov, north-west of the Postăvaru massif. It lies at an altitude of 920–950 metres.
Why it is protected
The area was declared a botanical reserve in 1980 and reconfirmed in 2000, in IUCN category IV. The forest is dominated by beech, with oak saplings and hazel shrubs, and the old woods alternate with meadows and clearings. Tourist descriptions also mention birds of prey and the black stork. The name Colții Corbului (the Raven's Fangs) comes from a pyramid-shaped rock of Jurassic limestone.
On foot, on a marked trail
The reserve can only be visited on foot. You reach it from Brașov or from Poiana Brașov on the trail marked with a yellow triangle, and one tour organiser offers a 5.5-kilometre route starting from Pietrele lui Solomon. For an organised hike in 2026, the route took around 2–3 hours, with breaks. As it is a protected area, stay on the path.
Opening hours and prices (checked 12 October 2026)
The reserve has no published visiting hours, prices or official website of its own. For current information on trails, check the official source (Brașov's tourism app, brasovtourism.app).
How to get there
From MAX International in Râșnov, drive towards Brașov on the DN73 through Cristian and enter the city towards Pietrele lui Solomon, where the 5.5-kilometre route starts.
