In short (checked 13 October 2026)
Waymark: yellow triangle (code 05MN31). Distance: 4.9 km. Elevation: 720 m up, 60 m down. Duration: 4–5 h. Difficulty: medium.
Where it goes
You start in the Noua-Dârste district, near the zoo, and walk up Plopilor street. The climb is gentle at first, then steep, along a narrow ridge on an old path, after which you keep left (south) onto the Piscul Lung ridge. The gradient increases, the path climbs in short switchbacks, passes a conglomerate rock and comes out on Crucuru Mic (1,040 m), in a clearing where you meet the blue stripe from Dârste. On the forested ridge the yellow cross joins from the right, from Valea Cetății, and you climb steadily to a rocky spur with a view of Tâmpa and the Gorița ridge. You reach the La Amvon rocks and then the junction with the blue stripe from Poiana lui Stechil; for the Postăvaru hut you can continue left on the blue stripe.
Safety
Munții Noștri rates it medium but describes it as quite demanding: about 800 m to climb. In winter, deep snow can cause problems on the last section. Water sources, shelters and bear risk are not published in our sources. The route ends on the ridge, not at a hut: plan your onward route or way back in advance. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Salvamont Brașov (municipal service, Poiana Doamnei 20B): 0368 103 194.
