In short (checked 13 October 2026)
Waymark: blue stripe (code 05MN36). Distance: 6.7 km. Elevation: 710 m up, 40 m down. Duration: 4–4.5 h. Difficulty: medium.
Where it goes
The route follows the Blue Road (Drumul Albastru) and starts from the promenade in the Tiberiu Brediceanu park, where the arrow points to the Postăvaru hut. You climb behind the houses to a small clearing, then steeply (over 35% gradient) to some rock slabs, at the junction with the Knights' Road (Drumul Cavalerilor), the medieval way up to the fortress on Tâmpa. In about 15 minutes you reach the Tâmpa saddle and the Mușicoiu Cross, with a view over the city. From there the Blue Road enters the forest on a wide track along the Gorița ridge, passes Poiana lui Stechil and climbs to the Crucuru ridge, near the La Amvon rocks; from the ridge you can see Piatra Mare, the Baiului Mountains and Postăvaru Peak.
Safety
With over 700 m to climb, the route is quite demanding, and at the start the gradient exceeds 35%. In winter, deep snow can cause problems. Water sources, shelters and bear risk are not published in our sources. The route ends on the ridge, not at a hut: plan your onward route or way back in advance. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Salvamont Brașov (municipal service, Poiana Doamnei 20B): 0368 103 194.
