Where it goes

Munții Noștri describes it as a wide loop around the foot of Piatra Craiului, between Cabana Curmătura and the Șirnea road. Landmarks: Cabana Curmătura (1,470 m), Poiana Mărtoiu, La Table, Curmătura Groapelor (1,389 m), the village of Șirnea, the Șirnea road and, at the end, the DN73. The trail guide of Zărnești Town Hall describes the section between the hut and La Table along the Ciocracu Valley, Piscul Ciocracului, the Cheii Valley and the Mărtoiu Valley, and places La Table at the upper, southern end of the Vlădușca meadow. P2 lists it as an approved route.

Safety

In winter the route is walkable, but heavy snow can cause problems. There is water at the springs of the Ciocracu Valley, at a spring near the tree nursery in the Cheii Valley and at a spring near the La Table junction. Cabana Curmătura has its accommodation temporarily closed, according to Brașov Tourism (notice indexed on 22 August 2026); the restaurant and camping area are mentioned as available, but confirm on 0745 454 184 first. Bear risk is not published in our sources. The route crosses Piatra Craiului National Park. The visitor ticket costs 10 lei per person and is valid for 7 days; children under 14 go free (pcrai.ro/bilete, 2026 prices, read on 7 October 2026). Park rules and any restrictions are on pcrai.ro. Getting to the start

Cabana Curmătura cannot be reached by car: you walk up from Zărnești, through the Zărnești Gorges or on the direct path. From MAX International in Râșnov, drive to Zărnești. Parking at the start is not published in our sources. The route ends on the DN73, far from Zărnești, so plan in advance how you will get back.
