Traseu: Hotel Peștera – Culmea Doamnele – Șaua Doamnele (punct roșu)

A short but steep route with about 730 m of ascent, from Hotel Peștera over Culmea Doamnele to Șaua Doamnele (2,327 m). Waymark: red dot (code 01MN44). Distance: 4.93 km according to Munții Noștri, 5 km according to OpenStreetMap. Elevation: 731 m of ascent and 25 m of descent. Duration: 2:45 h; the Munții Noștri description speaks of about 3 h. Difficulty: medium/difficult.

Where it goes

According to Munții Noștri, the route leaves Hotel Peștera up the Obârșia Valley, together with the blue stripe towards Vârful Omu, crosses the Obârșia stream towards the Doamnele Valley and, past a sheepfold, climbs in tight hairpins to the rocks of Culmea Doamnele. After 40–45 minutes it reaches the southern end of the ridge, follows it to 2,150–2,200 m, with views of Vârful Bătrâna, the Obârșia Valley and Colții Obârșiei, then contours along the western slope to Șaua Doamnele (2,327 m). There it meets the red stripe between Vârful Bătrâna and Vârful Omu, on the Border Guards' Road (Drumul Grănicerilor); the source says you can return to Hotel Peștera on the blue stripe.

Safety

Munții Noștri marks the route as inaccessible in winter (its description only says heavy snow can cause problems). Water sources are not published, so set off with enough water. No shelters are published on the route; Hotel Peștera is at the start. The risk of bears is not published in our sources. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). The route is not in Brașov County; P2 lists Salvamont Brașov (0736 628 948), but the local Salvamont service has not been checked.

Getting to the start

Hotel Peștera is on the Bucegi plateau. Munții Noștri mentions a road access to the hotel, but we have not checked whether it is open or in which season. On foot you can get there from Moieciu de Sus on the red triangle (01MN28). The navigation buttons on this page look up Hotel Peștera on the map; check the road before you set off. The route does not return to the start, so plan your way back beforehand. The route ends on the ridge, at Șaua Doamnele: you return on foot, the same way or on the blue stripe, as the source suggests.
