In short (checked 13 October 2026)
Waymark: red triangle (code 05MN41). Distance: 1.9 km. Elevation: 250 m up. Duration: 1–1.5 h. Difficulty: medium.
Where it goes
The route starts in the Șchei district, next to Pietrele lui Solomon (Solomon's Rocks), where the Yellow Road, the Blue Road and the Old Road also begin. You climb in switchbacks, pass above the first waterfall and enter the bed of Vâlcelul Dracului (the Devil's Gully): small waterfalls and chutes, wooden footbridges among rocks and moss-covered trunks. After two springs you leave the gully through a wild stretch of brambles, raspberries, nettles and tall grass and reach the Brașov–Poiana Brașov road. You cross it, pass the barrier of the Stejerișul Mare reserve and climb north to the viewpoint near the summit (957 m), with Brașov and Tâmpa in the foreground and the Bârsa Land behind.
Safety
The route is short (about 250 m to climb), but has gradients of over 25% and a wild stretch that is hard going when the vegetation is high. In winter, deep snow can cause problems. Two springs are mentioned on the way. You cross the Brașov–Poiana Brașov road: watch out for cars. Shelters and bear risk are not published in our sources. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Salvamont Brașov (municipal service, Poiana Doamnei 20B): 0368 103 194.
