In short (checked 13 October 2026)
A long, difficult route that takes a full day. Waymark: yellow stripe (code 05MN38), known as the “Yellow Road”. Distance: 20.6 km. Elevation: over 1,400 m. Duration: 9–10 h. Difficulty: difficult.
Where it goes
The route crosses the Postăvaru Massif from north to south. It starts at Solomon's Rocks, at the end of Brașov's Șchei district, climbs to Postăvaru Peak and then descends towards Predeal. According to Munții Noștri, the descent from Poiana Trei Fetițe towards Spinarea Calului is steep, and the last section uses roads and gentle paths. The huts mentioned along the way are Postăvaru Hut (Julius Romer), Poiana Secuilor Hut, Trei Brazi Hut and Vânătorilor Hut; check beforehand whether they are open.
Safety
Check access at Solomon's Rocks before you set off. On 19 March 2026 a landslide covered the forest road in the area and access was closed. In early April 2026, Brașov City Hall announced the reopening after inspection; we found no confirmation of it. In winter, the Postăvaru Peak – Spinarea Calului section is not recommended. Water sources and bear risk are not published in our sources. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Salvamont Brașov (municipal service, Poiana Doamnei 20B): 0368 103 194.
Getting to the start
