In short (checked 13 October 2026)
Waymark: red cross (code 05MN54). Distance: 6 km. Elevation: over 800 m. Duration: 3–4 h. Difficulty: difficult (quite demanding).
Where it goes
The route climbs from Poiana Brașov, past Prăpastia Lupului (Wolf's Chasm), to the summit of Postăvaru, and is also known as Drumul Roșu (the Red Road). A ski slope in the Poiana ski area bears the same name, so do not confuse them. Munții Noștri shows that in the saddle below the summit the red cross waymark comes from the Postăvaru (Julius Romer) hut, and from the saddle you climb to the summit, at 1,799 m, on a short stretch of path fitted with railings. Other landmarks on the way are not published in our sources; keep the Munții Noștri or Waymarked Trails map at hand.
Safety
With over 800 m to climb in 6 km, the route is quite demanding. One spring is mentioned on the way. As shelters, the sources list the Postăvaru (Julius Romer) hut and the Salvamont Postăvaru hut, towards the top; check in advance whether they are open. Winter conditions and bear risk are not published in our sources. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Salvamont Brașov (municipal service, Poiana Doamnei 20B): 0368 103 194.
