Where it goes

The first waymark is on the fence of the artificial skating rink in the south-east of the resort, on the old Poiana road. Below Prăpastia Lupului you reach the Lupului ski slope, cross it and descend on a path through spruce and beech to Poiana Ursului (the Bear's Clearing), a small clearing with limestone boulders and a view of Piatra Craiului. From there you descend west along Pârâul lui Isac to the confluence of Vanga Mică and Vanga Mare, where the Groapa Lungă valley begins, and follow the forest road to the Poienii stream. You cross the water, climb a narrow valley onto the Piscul Lung ridge and, a little further north, reach the saddle with the Blue Road between Brașov and Râșnov.

Safety

The route is of medium difficulty, with about 270 m up and 350 m down. In winter, deep snow can cause problems. There is a spring on the way, at the Vanga Mică–Vanga Mare confluence. Waymarks are sparse between Valea Poienii and Piscul Lung: keep the map at hand. Shelters and bear risk are not published in our sources. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Getting to the start
