In short (checked 13 October 2026)
Waymark: blue stripe (code 05MN06). Distance: 7.2 km. Elevation: about 900 m (P2); 915 m of ascent (Munții Noștri). Duration: about 3 h (P2); 2 h 15 min – 3 h (Munții Noștri). Difficulty: medium.
Where it goes
The route starts from the DN1, at Timișu de Sus, crosses the Timiș stream on a stone bridge and follows the forest road towards the Tamina forestry cabin, according to Munții Noștri. It then climbs through the Tamina canyon, where five waterfalls are strung along about 100 m, on metal ladders that Munții Noștri describes as degraded. From the waterfalls, the path climbs to the sheepfold at the end of the route: P2 calls it Stâna sub Piatra Scrisă, while other sources link the path to Coada Pietrei Mari. You will find more about the waterfall on the guide page “Tamina Waterfall (Piatra Mare)”.
Safety
In winter the route is only partly passable, depending on the amount of snow, and crossing the canyon is dangerous because of ice. The metal ladders in the canyon are described as degraded, and the current state of the route is not officially published. The Tamina forestry cabin and the Piatra Mică forest lodge are mentioned on the route; whether they can be used as shelter is not published. Water sources and bear risk are not published in our sources. In an emergency call 112 or 0SALVAMONT (0725 826 668). Salvamont Brașov (municipal service, Poiana Doamnei 20B): 0368 103 194.
